Jennamarie's Delicious Homemade potstickers with homemade potsticker dough and homemade dipping sauce ( vegetable )

For the filling

THE VEGGIES ** None of the fillers are set in stone, I encourage you to be creative!

1 10 oz bag of tri colored cold slaw mix ( shredded purple and white cabbage and carrots)

1 1/2 cups of straw mushrooms

1/4 large white onion

2 garlic cloves

2 celery stalks

2 tablespoons of freshly chopped gingerroot

1 1/2 cups of vegetable broth

THE SEASONING- this is the most important part, make it yummy ! As an italian woman I never really measure anything,

use your eye and your taste buds to determine what amounts will be best for your potstickers.

1 1/2 tsp soy sauce

2 1/2 tbsp beef bullion (powder)

1 1/2 tbsp merlot

2 tsp brown sugar

1 tsp red whine vinager

1 1/2 tbsp sesame seed oil

THE DIPPING SAUCE Mix and match to your liking Start with the sauce. I suggest adding very small amounts of the brown sugar and ginger until you get the right taste . then add just a dabble of sesame seed oil

shredded ginger root
soy sauce
brown sugar
sesame seed oil

The Dough- dont be creative here !

2 cups of flour

1/2 water

______________________________________________________________

Start with the dough

combine water and flour in large bowl and kneed for 3 minutes ( you know your dough is done when there is not much elasticity left- so your shapes hold well)

cover with a cloth and set aside for 10 min.

Now the filling

finely chop all of your vegetables

pre heat 3/4 cups of vegetable broth until it is almost simmering in a large skillet

add vegetables and simmer on medium high heat, stirring frequently for about 7 minutes

BACK TO THE DOUGH

roll your dough out into a long "snake" roll about 1 inch thick
slice keep it covered, slicing off about 8 3/4 inch balls at a time ( you dont want your dough to get hard! )

ROLL IT OUT

line your surface and your rolling pin with flour and roll out your dough balls. you want the dough as thin as possible but not so thin that it will break when adding the filling. ( to get the dough to form circles, press firmly on your rolling pin in one direction then turn the dough 90degrees and roll it the opposite way)

BACK TO THE FILLING

your filling should be nearly cooked by now , and you should add your seasonings , add each seasoning slowly and stir constantly to ensure that all of the ingredients combine thoroughly... don't be afraid to taste test it along the way! if you wont eat it no one will !

once all the water has been absorbed, Your Filling will start to stick together, turn the burner to low heat for 1 min and then set aside.

Once you have rolled out your first batch of pot sticker dough balls, add a tablespoonful of filling to each and gently fold the remaining dough over.

Secure the edges using your finger first then a fork to ensure that that will not open while cooking as shown below

THE GRAND FINALE - everyone's mouths will be watering by this point !

pre heat a large skillet on med heat and add 2 tbsp of olive oil.

place your potstickers in pan in batches of no more then 10 dumplings. Brown the dumplings for about 9- seconds or until a very light golden brown.

Add the remaining 3/4 cups of vegetable broth to pan, cover and cook for bout 5 min or until the liquid has evaporated. turn heat to medium low and brown for 1-2 more minutes until the bottom is a crisp golden brown.

at last! Google contact sync for blackberry - why its bad and how to fix it

Yes they have now done it- contact sync for my blackberry. I was delighted to here the news and immediately updated my phone with the newest version of google sync.

The problem however, is that the google sync literally destroyed my blackberry address book.
I had none of the contacts that I previously did, Email addresses that were not associated with names and about 200 phone numbers with unknown names.

Though I do rant and rave about how magnificent Gmail is, I am quite disappointed in the contact management system.

This problem does not only exist when syncing your Blackberry with your gmail contacts, but also when importing/export to and from outlook. The duplication detection system in effect is neither effective nor efficient.

PLEASE DON'T LET THIS DISMAY YOU FROM USING GMAIL - as it is by far the best email online !

****Before you try out google contact sync, I suggest backing up your phones contacts by syncing with outlook and exporting all of your contacts to q backup CSV file ( i do this weekly, you should too !)

If you already tried google contact sync for your blackberry, You CAN undo the unfortunate destruction of your precious address book ! (o:

here's how- ( this is assuming that you regularly sync your address book with your outlook or other email software)

1) plug your phone into your computer, go to the blackberry desktop manager.

2) choose synchronize

change options for synchronizing email messages and organizer data

3) select the configuration tab

4) select configure sync; choose the application with your most recently backed up address book.
5) select address book and then click "setup"

6) set the device to sync one way from outlook to device

7) ensure that there is a check mark in the field labeled " replace all existing data in target device"

8) your good to go , now sync your device and your life will be back to normal !!

Why I am so over clubbbing

So I have not been going out lately.
Just about every weekend, the urge still emerges, usually because I am feeling good about my appearance and want to go flaunt my stuff.
I love having fun as well, very social, love to mingle.
Most people would blame it on the drunk people, for me however , it goes just a bit deeper then loathing intoxication.
At the end of the night(or in the morning) I find myself so grossly turned off by the majority of people that I meet when clubbing.
They are sexy ( in the dark for sure) drive nice cars (dont know how) but to my dismay, most turn out to be blatantly ignorant, dense and bitterly simple minded.
I have observed this so often that the thought of even attempting to converse with this whole scene of club hoppers completely diminishes my initial motivation for going out in the first place ...

Maybe Im jaded , but my disgust has been formed only through experience and never assumption.

I lost faith in Astrology columns after a friend of mine showed me how they wrote theirs, for their newspaper column. Every year, they moved the "predictions" forward by one week, for each star sign, so the same prediction didn't occur on the same day, for the same sign, every year.It may have been the ultimate act of recycling, or just gross dishonesty, but it turned me off ever putting even the slightest faith in Astrological "predictions".The funniest thing, I thought, was that eventually advice meant for a Cancer would end up being given to a Scorpio.

I tend to view popular Astrology columns in newspapers/magazines as little more than entertainment value. After all, each sign has to cater for a twelfth of the population so the message is hardly going to be accurate for all of those people. Astrology is very complex - as well as a "Star sign" we all have a "Rising sign" and a "Moon sign" which have to be taken into consideration. And then there are the 12 houses and all the planets and their positions in the signs at the time of birth and their relative positions and aspects to each other and to the houses, cusps and quadrants etc...etc... It goes on and on and is very complicated. Lots of calculations (thankfully done by computer programmes now) and interpretations have to be taken into account before an Astrologer can tell you what you need to know.

the best advise that i can give regarding losing weight is just to be very attentive to the relationship that you have with food -
I grew up in an Italian family - where it is encouraged and even enforced to fill your plate until your cavatellis are falling off the edges and you dont even have enough room on there for the bread - to eat every last bite, un buttton your pants and lay around and digest until it is time to stuff it again for desert . As a heavy girl my entire life ... Food has always been both my depressant as well aas my anti depressant. Kids at school "mooed" at me - Id cry - then go eat a tub of ben an jerry's .
When i was 18 years old I witnessed my mother enduring a severe depression upon the death of her father . She dropped nearly 40 lbs within a month. I never saw her eat - because she never did...

Take account of all of those people who get depressed and lose their appetite! I envied them girl !!! But envy does nothing for me - so I decided to be emulate them.
I changed my mindset.

I convinced myself that food is not my friend - not my therapist- not my escape- but rather a vitamin- and like all vitamins -food is great when you are consume the correct amount , but can cause severe problems when taken in excess..
I stopped living to eat , and started living to eat .
Now this all sounds far too easy - TRUST ME i am NOT minimizing the transformation !! THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE EASY !!!
You cannot change your habits until you change alter your conscience.
You must be aware of every single calorie you intake - If you want it to happen quickly - ( i needed it to - as i have no patients and had been on and off diets all my life ) then you HAVE to make it your LIFE !! Devote yourself - your energy and your heart to being what/who you want to be ! I was the queen of excuses !!"Oh i can eat that oreo - I am going to the gym tonight" That ice cream wont hurt me - its only a little bit" "I have been good all week"

For myself , this has always been quite difficult to answer, it would be much easier to respond to an inquiry about what I do not enjoy. I am one who strives to enjoy everything that I do, whether the situation be delightful or distressful. Perhaps my favorite activities would include listening and dancing to music, swimming in the crisp , clear waters of the ocean, taking walks, and admiring the beauty of nature. Prevailing over hardships brings be more joy then enjoying a smooth ride.

my response is brief- " I HAVEN'T FOUND SOMEONE I WANT TO DEVOTE MYSELF TO YET"

I believe that it takes but 3 things to please someone.

1:the desire to

2: self awareness and mutual comfort (generally speaking, treat people as you would want to be treated and there is a time and a place for everything, don't just let it be awkward! we have tomorrow!)

3: Attentiveness, accompanied by necessary adjustments and compromises and of course Proper Reaction !

but thats a perfect package , for which of course i know i will not find. ( thats where the compromise comes into play)

Despite my love of love im very single because i very much do not want to settle.

When I am with someone, I want it to be because we make one another smile at the end of the day

Life itself is stressful, and despite not exactly wanting to spend my nights alone, I certianly do not need to be involved with someone who increases the stess level .

I want Someone who will genuinely appreciate rather want all that i have to offer.

I am better then your ex and better then your next.

Those who have had me broke my heart and still would kill for just one more chance to mend it. (you know I will always love you)

i suggest you get copies of the bi-monthly magazine , FitnessRX for women, make sure its the RX ! its full of helpful hints and what is unique about it is that all of the information provided is cited from viable sources, which means that rather then getting the same old "do these 3 exercises and you'll have a flat stomach in 3 days" bull crap, the articles are backed by NEW scientific research, it is defiantly my favorite new obsession!!! with my experience, there are a few things that have been working for me recently:( these are assuming that you already count calories)
1: eat protien befor anything else ! i know that if i eat a whole bagel , i will not feel as full as i would if i had eaten 3 shrimp or a piece of chicken, because what my body needs to function is the protein. plus , when you eat carbs , your body wants more carbs more quickly , this is because they are digested the most quickly in your stomace and because of the whole blood sugar insulin thing ( and EAT SLOWLY !!- it takes your body almost 30 min to realize that it is full-or still hungry!!)
2: drink tons of water- have a full water bottle with you at all times , and if you feel like you might be hungry , drink 8-10 oz before you reach for that snack
3: change your coffee habits - i went from extra extra, to extra Light with milk and 5 sugars, the next week i switched to skim milk and 5 sugars. but i realize now that in just one medium coffee i was drinking away nearly 120calories !! ( thats a LOT for a beverage during restriction!!) so , now i have mine with splenda only , and if its icky Coffee , i throw in a tiny bit of skim milk.
4: play with your diet - if you havent been loosing weight , up your daily calories by about 100-200 , make sure that the calories are fatty calories- continue on your workout plan , but dont add anything -- do this for 3-7 days . then SHOCK your body - take away 200-300 calories per day ( say you were initially having 1300 calories, you would first go up to 1400-1500, after the fatty days, you jump back to 1100-1200 calories) at the same time as your restricting your calories, you increase your workout , if you can- challenge yourself , but dont challenge yourself so much that you pass out at the gym- thats not cute lol
